General Description
Route: Semi-Circular route that traverses communal trails marked with yellow dots, as well as GR and GRP paths. The trails are well marked; we will encounter some stretches of scree and some areas of grass meadows without a path. We will be at high altitude for most of the time, so we need to be accustomed to moving through this type of terrain. Notes: We will not find water along the route unless we detour and reach the Refugi de les Fonts while descending. The descent from Coll del Clot del Cavall may have snow or ice throughout the spring, so we will need to carefully plan the gear we take. We will spend half the route in the forest and the other half in open areas. Be cautious when at altitude and in sections without vegetation; in summer, the heat and solar radiation can be strong or very strong, so protective measures are necessary. Ascent: We will start from the parking lot in the center of the village of Arinsal and will ascend along Carrer del Querol, which will take us to the beginning of the Percanela path marked with yellow dots. We will continue ascending and find the bordes (mountain huts) of Percanela and a little further on, the one at Torner; then we will turn right and continue along the path to Coll de les Cases, also marked with yellow dots. This will lead us to the next junction where we take a left to ascend to Pic de Percanela, which involves some sections of scree. Descent: From the Pic, we continue north and quickly reach the coll where we take the left path to Clot del Cavall, which will take us to Bordes de Prats Nous; here we will follow the same path we took for the ascent, leading us back to where we started the route. Once in the village of Arinsal, it will be a good time to sit down and have a snack at the village terraces.
