General Description
Route: A linear route that traverses different paths (GR11, GRP, and communal paths marked with a yellow dot) where in some sections of the final ridge of Baiau, the terrain is quite broken. The paths are well marked, except for the last section of ascent and descent of the Pic. Observations: We will find water at the Comapedrosa refuge. Attention, we will be at altitude and without vegetation, in summer the heat and solar radiation can be strong or very strong, protection is necessary. Ascent: We will leave from the Comapedrosa parking lot and head towards the Comapedrosa col, initially along a communal path and then we will take the GR11 (marked in white and red). Here we can go see the Cabana de Comapedrosa, which is very close in a wetland area to the right of the path going upwards. We will continue following the GR (marked in white and red) to the Estany de Comapedrosa and later to the Estany Negre, we will see the peak at the end of the valley. We will reach the intersection of the Port de Baiau and continue upwards until we find the Collada de Malhiverns, where we will turn left onto unmarked and quite broken terrain, arriving at the peak for today's route, the Pic de Baiau. We will get beautiful views of the Roca Entravessada, Estanys de Baiau, Alt de Comapedrosa. Descent: We will descend along the ridge to the Port de Baiau through an area of broken and unmarked terrain, similar to what we just did on the way up; from this point on, we will follow the same path that we took on the ascent.
