El Camí Ral de la Massana - Ruta 44

We begin the route from the square of les Fontetes de la Massana, next to the Pal cable car, heading towards Farga Rossell, a metallurgical museum that is one of the best-preserved testimonies of this past in the Pyrenees. We will see an entrance on the right, which leads us to a path shared with pedestrians; we need to reduce speed, and we will walk beside the river until we reach a country road and the start of the Camí de les Gavarres. Right at the entrance, we will have to go down a quite steep area with tight curves; if you are with children, it is better to do it on foot. From this point, we have a route along the bank of the Valira River with very little slope, although being narrow, we must control our speed since it is a path shared with pedestrians. We will cross wooden bridges and walkways until we reach a chapel dedicated to Sant Antoni Abat, the patron saint of carriers, which was restored at the end of the 20th century. At this point, we will turn around and return by the same path, until we arrive at the end where instead of returning to Farga Rossell, we will go left, climbing towards the tennis courts, and turning right, we will enter the old town of La Massana which leads us directly back to our starting point. We have arrived, and now it’s time to enjoy some of the establishments in the village and regain our strength.
