Lo Mandongo and Trinxat Festival

La Massana celebrates one of its tastiest traditions with the Festa de Lo Mandongo i el Trinxat, a day that showcases mountain cuisine and traditional flavours.

A popular festival where people gather around the table and enjoy Lo Mandongo, a gastronomic tradition associated with pig slaughter and making use of its meat to prepare various typical dishes and products, a practice once deeply rooted in mountain households. The festival also invites us to sample trinxat, one of the most emblematic dishes of Pyrenean cuisine. An occasion to get together, savour tradition and keep the gastronomic heritage of la Massana alive. Great company, mountain cuisine and tradition come together for a day to enjoy with family and friends!

At 10.00 am Preparation of the pork by the Confraria de Sant Antoni. From 12.00 pm to 1.30 pm Screening of the interviews from “la Massana d’abans” in the Comú Vell hall. From 12.45 pm to 1.45 pm Performances by the older people’s theatre group. At 1.00 pm Community lunch featuring trinxat and pork. With traditional Pyrenean music performed by Ivan Caro.

La Festa de Lo Mandongo, a popular event that revives an old tradition associated with pig slaughter and making use of its meat, deeply rooted in mountain households. A celebration where people come together around the table, share a delicious trinxat with pork and keep La Massana’s culinary heritage alive.
