UNESCO World Heritage Site Nomination
Andorra, Spain, and France have prepared over the past few years and presented, last January, a transnational nomination for UNESCO World Heritage.
This United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture will decide in July 2027 whether to inscribe The material testimonies of the construction of the State of the Pyrenees: the Co-Principality of Andorra on the World Heritage List.
Woven among Andorra, La Seu d’Urgell (Spain), and Foix (France), this transnational series consisting of twelve elements showcases a unique cultural and political tradition in the world: the Co-principality of Andorra. Each of the twelve elements testifies to an original facet of the exceptional journey that connects the diversity of Andorra's rural mountain communities with their co-princes.
Thus, from Foix to La Seu d’Urgell passing through Andorra, the elements that constitute this transnational series testify to a living cultural and political tradition, based on the reconciliation and harmonization of diverse wills, aspirations, and interests. This transpyrenean series carries a universal significance in the sense that it is a plea, for over seven hundred years and until today, in favor of word, diplomacy, consensus, and peace, which concerns all peoples and all cultures of the world.
