In La Massana you will find one of the best dark skies in southern Europe! La Massana received the double Starlight certification with the seals of Starlight tourist destination and Starlight reserve on 10 January 2023. This internationally recognised seal certifies that the parish enjoys a dark sky free of light pollution, making it suitable for night-time astronomical observation.

This international seal recognises those protected natural areas that enjoy excellent night sky quality and where a commitment is made to the defence of the quality of the night sky and access to starlight.

In May 2023, the Comú de la Massana and the Starlight Foundation organised training for Starlight Monitors. This training enables guides and tour operators to incorporate the tool of astro-tourism as another activity in the localities.
