Andorra's sky is a treasure and we want to rediscover it together so that it becomes a new sustainable tourism experience. The training of Starlight Monitors is what enables guides and tour operators to incorporate the astro-tourism tool as another activity within the localities.
The Starlight Foundation is the only entity in the world that trains and certifies tourist destinations for stargazing. As a whole, Starlight is an integrated action of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and is supported by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
Its main objectives are the protection of the night sky, the cultural dissemination of astronomy and local sustainable economic development through astro-tourism. In order to achieve these objectives, the international Starlight Certification system was created with the aim of promoting, on a worldwide level, a different way of caring for and defending the sky, of valuing it as a necessary resource for life and as an intangible heritage of humanity, guaranteeing the ability to enjoy the starlight and the development of activities based on this resource.
